Zinc Plating
Zinc plating has been around for quite some time giving a significant contribution most especially to the automotive industry. The peoples quest for a higher performance coating brought the development of this technology. Its use provides an excellent alternative to metal plating processes that involved toxic materials like cadmium plating. Zinc is compatible with various plating bath chemistries, making it one of the more versatile and popular metals for electroplating.
The Zinc plating process involves electrolytic application of zinc on to a metal item by immersing clean steel parts into a zinc salt solution and applying electric current into it. This immersion produces a zinc coating that prevents the metal part from oxidising, the zinc coating acts as a barrier and as a sacrificial anode.
